Last morning of our short break in Dorset, and the weather didn’t disappoint. A quick walk down to the harbour before we left and a last chance to look at the boats. I figure we will be back before long…

Day 86 – Out Of Season…
In season I reckon these beach huts at Sandbanks, Poole, will be pretty busy, but today not one was in use. Beach huts, most of which can’t be stayed in overnight and typically don’t have toilet facilities, can sell for upwards of £100k in some areas. I’m sure that if I could afford one, I’d be using it all the time!
Day 85 – Catching The Sun…
Our few days this week in Dorset seems like a great opportunity to try my latest purchase – a DJI Osmo Pocket video camera. It’s absolutely tiny, shoots 4K video, and is fully gimbal stabilised. I’m hoping to get some good footage of our trip!
Day 47 – Adiós…
All good things have to come to an end, so it was goodbye this morning to the palm trees, sunshine, pools and sun loungers. Not really the end though – I figure it won’t be too long before we are back!
Day 46 – Everything Comes…
… to him who waits. So the sunsets every night of our holiday so far have been pretty rubbish – well, that is, with absolutely no cloud in the sky, the sun has just slipped away leaving just a faint glow – no drama at all. With some intermittent cloud today (our last day), it looked more promising so off I set to the lighthouse at Maspalomas to see what was in store… And boy, did it deliver! This is just an iPhone shot – hopefully I’ll have better still when I get to look at my Sony A7iii images on the computer. But for now, I’m happy…
Day 45 – ‘Piering’ Out To Sea…
Not much of a pier in truth, just an old concrete jetty by the lighthouse at Maspalomas. There are archeological ruins nearby of an aboriginal settlement dating back some 1000 years, but the area is dominated by the Maspalomas Sand Dunes, and numerous holiday hotels.
Day 44 – Someone’s Got To Do It…
There’s no guarantee of warm weather and sunshine in the Canary Islands in February, but we hoped for temperatures in the low 20s, with at least some sunshine. Our expectations have been somewhat exceeded, with wall to wall sunshine all week, and as you see, the temperature peaked at an impressive 34°C this afternoon. So warm in fact that we had to seek shelter (in the bar of course!)
Day 41 – Taking The Rays…
Well, for today I was planning on including a shot of the palm trees and blue sky here in Gran Canaria, or maybe even this evenings fab sunset, but couldn’t resist this amazing sand art…
Day 40 – Escape To The Sun…
Well, our winter sun holiday is upon us – an early start and a drive through some pretty ferocious winds (Storm Erik apparently) saw us in the lounge at Manchester airport for long enough for a quick drink before boarding. Gran Canaria here we come!
Day 15 – Not Long Now…
It’s been a good few years since we went on a package holiday, so really looking forward to our winter sunshine break! Hoping for some good photo opportunities too…
