So, after our family left this afternoon, we had a few hours to relax before a last meal and packing for our return trip tomorrow. Back to reality it is then, with lawns to mow, washing to get done and a trip to the supermarket. Next holiday is Santorini in October – can’t wait!

Day 213 – Torre Del Mar (2) …
Our hotel in Ibiza. It’s been a great, albeit very short break, and we just have tomorrow left, and then our flight home on Saturday. Over 30 years since we were last here, and probably not somewhere I would rush back to, but a super holiday anyway.
Day 211 – Torre Del Mar…
Our hotel is apparently named after this old tower that has been preserved and sits in the middle of the swimming pool. What better way to enjoy the view and the sunshine than with a cold beer!
Day 210 – Made It At Last…
After two pretty horrendous days traveling, we finally made it to Ibiza. A cancelled flight yesterday and a long drive to an alternate airport, then a delayed flight today, with the threat of being bumped at the last minute as the plane was overloaded. Fortunately we made it, and our reward was meeting up with family, and a fabulous sunset dinner…
Day 47 – Adiós…
All good things have to come to an end, so it was goodbye this morning to the palm trees, sunshine, pools and sun loungers. Not really the end though – I figure it won’t be too long before we are back!
Day 46 – Everything Comes…
… to him who waits. So the sunsets every night of our holiday so far have been pretty rubbish – well, that is, with absolutely no cloud in the sky, the sun has just slipped away leaving just a faint glow – no drama at all. With some intermittent cloud today (our last day), it looked more promising so off I set to the lighthouse at Maspalomas to see what was in store… And boy, did it deliver! This is just an iPhone shot – hopefully I’ll have better still when I get to look at my Sony A7iii images on the computer. But for now, I’m happy…
Day 45 – ‘Piering’ Out To Sea…
Not much of a pier in truth, just an old concrete jetty by the lighthouse at Maspalomas. There are archeological ruins nearby of an aboriginal settlement dating back some 1000 years, but the area is dominated by the Maspalomas Sand Dunes, and numerous holiday hotels.
Day 44 – Someone’s Got To Do It…
There’s no guarantee of warm weather and sunshine in the Canary Islands in February, but we hoped for temperatures in the low 20s, with at least some sunshine. Our expectations have been somewhat exceeded, with wall to wall sunshine all week, and as you see, the temperature peaked at an impressive 34°C this afternoon. So warm in fact that we had to seek shelter (in the bar of course!)
Day 43 – Fancy An All-over Tan…?
Well, here’s the place to get it – naturist section of beach at Maspalomas on Gran Canaria. Despite the warm sunny weather there were very few takers – just a few wizened individuals huddled at one end of the beach …
Day 42 – I See No Ships…
Absolutely nothing in view, as far as the eye can see. Maybe one day…
