… and wine on. Saw this sign in one of our local pubs today and was rather amused by it. A glass of wine is definitely recommended for helping one stay calm. My new favourite motto…

Day 130 – In The Pink…
Ignoring the forecast of rain, we walked a section of the South West Coastal Path in Cornwall today. Such beautiful scenery, enhanced by a colourful display of spring flowers, including this Pink Thrift. A nice walk, good friends, and a good pub for lunch – what’s not to like?
Day 125 – Looming Clouds…
This is the view from the top of Wenlock Edge, looking out towards Shrewsbury. With a few friends from the local tennis club, we enjoyed a 7 mile ‘sociable’ walk this morning – a gentle pace, with plenty of time for chatting. And then a visit to the local pub for refreshments! A great way to spend Sunday.
Day 75 – The Last Inn…
‘All this long day I have sought for good ale, and now at The Last Inn I found it’
Day 68 – Blast From The Past…
Built in 1753, the Sandbrook Vaults (pub) is a Grade II listed building, one of the oldest surviving in Market Drayton. This used to be the main road through the town.
Day 37 – Play It Again Sam…
So tonight was a ‘date night’ spent at one of our local restaurants, where they were celebrating their first year of business with a special menu, and some live music. Thanks to Dan and Verity at The Town House, and to Luke Brown for his great accompaniment.
Day 14 – My Favourite Pub…
Not only is The Red Lion my favourite pub, but it’s also a brewery! The pub dates back to 1623 and the brewery was built on the site in 2010, brewing Slumbering Monk ale and Green Monkey craft lager. With great food too, it’s a popular stop on our walks in the area.
Day 4 – Decay…
The Cherry Tree Hotel near Whitchurch must have seen some lively times over the years, both in it’s previous incarnation as the Witch Ball Inn, and latterly as a night club. It’s been abandoned for many years now and completely derelict. Project anyone?

Day 1 – Time for a quick drink…
Damp and miserable weather meant our New Year’s Day walk didn’t get going until lunchtime, but we made up for it with a diversion to the pub. There’s nothing like a pint of Slumbering Monk at The Red Lion. What’s not to like?
