Rather windy tonight here in Cornwall so didn’t venture out to take photos, but then this awesome sunset appeared… A grab shot with my trusty Sony camera captured it perfectly.

Day 139 – Oldie But Goodie…
Today was the last day of the 2019 Cape to Cape tour for classic cars, and the 40 cars involved passed right in front of the restaurant where we were eating lunch. Started in 2004, this is a charity fundraising event, with the cars and crews traveling from Cape Trafalgar in Spain to Cape Cornwall. The Triumph TR6 is a favorite of mine – I used to work on the fuel systems when I was an apprentice…
Day 138 – Beware Incoming Tide…
Kynance Cove, like many in Cornwall, has beautiful sandy beaches exposed at low tide. As the tide comes in though, parts of the beach are cut off, and people getting stranded and needing rescuing is a common occurrence.
Day 137 – Long Gone…
The Wheal Prosper Mine At Rinsey Head in Cornwall was not hugely successful – it was only worked from 1860-1866 before being abandoned. Only the ruins remain…
Day 136 – How Much A Gallon…?
I remember paying around 4s 9d a gallon for fuel in the late 1960s, so 2s 3d must have been significantly earlier. No wonder it was sold out at those prices…
Day 135 – Jam First…
… then cream. Our cream tea this afternoon came with clear instructions on how it should be assembled! Well worth it mind you…
Day 134 – Art & Sculpture…
One of our objectives for our trip to Cornwall was to visit St Ives – home of both Tate Modern St Ives, and the Barbara Hepworth sculpture garden. The garden was inspirational, and the gallery challenging, but this piece on display in the gallery really resonated with me…
Day 132 – Defying Gravity…
Tonight’s outing was to the Minack Theatre near Land’s End. An amazing venue, carved out of the side of a cliff and hosting everything from music concerts to Shakespeare, it was conceived and largely built by Rowena Cade and her gardener from 1930 onwards. The performance tonight was by ‘Gravity’ – a rock/indie band based locally. Even though the day had been warm, it was far from warm when the sun went down! A magical experience nevertheless…
Day 131 – Colours Of The Rainbow
So, a quick long exposure sunset shot, down by the harbour wall in Porthleven. An opportunity to try out my ‘lightweight’ kit of Sony A6300 and 16-70mm lens. Seems pretty decent.
Day 130 – In The Pink…
Ignoring the forecast of rain, we walked a section of the South West Coastal Path in Cornwall today. Such beautiful scenery, enhanced by a colourful display of spring flowers, including this Pink Thrift. A nice walk, good friends, and a good pub for lunch – what’s not to like?
