Camera, that is. I’ve had a 35mm film camera for a while now (a lovely Olympus OM2N) but it’s not really pocket friendly, so it doesn’t get out much. I’d picked up a mint Trip 35, but that’s fairly basic – pretty much point and press, so was on the lookout for something small, but capable of good results. So this little Olympus XA presented itself – seems to be in good condition and has a coupled rangefinder and aperture settings, so let’s see how it performs.
I’ve wanted to get a classic 35mm ‘pocket’ camera for a while, but I’ve been outbid on every occasion up to now. This little beauty was advertised at £30 on the website of a reputable photo retailer so I dived in, and it arrived this morning… First indications are very promising.
This is my Olympus OM2n 35mm film camera. I had one ‘in the day’ (around 1979-1980) but it was a bit battered and I sold it long ago. I picked this beautiful example up a couple of years ago and reckon I will never part with it – it’s in pretty much mint condition, came with 28mm and 135mm lenses as well as the 50mm, and even has the original box! Must get out and use it more…
