And so it runs, away into the distance… I remember my parents putting me on a (steam) train to London back in the 1950s to stay with my grandparents for a holiday – I still feel that same sense of adventure now when I take a trip by train. 
… is always under construction. Spotted this sign in a local gift shop, and thought how true it is… There is always something more to aspire to. 
… as it appears. You could be forgiven for thinking that Wightwick Manor, in Wolverhampton, dates back to the Elizabethan era of the 16th Century, but it was actually only built in 1887. Inspired by the Arts & Crafts movement of William Morris, it was built by the Mander family, and is now in the hands of the National Trust. 
This is the new pedestrian bridge linking Telford Town Centre with the railway station. Replacing the original open bridge built in 1986, this fully enclosed bridge cost £10m and took two years to build. 
The gate paddle mechanism at #1 Lock at Tyrley Locks on the Shropshire Union Canal near Market Drayton. Completed in 1835, this canal was the last major project completed by Thomas Telford, the architect of much of the canal system in England. Looks to me like this gear mechanism is probably original…
When I retired a few years back, my retirement gift from the company was a beautiful set of paintings on canvas by a Canadian artist named Danielle O’Connor Akiyama. These wonderful canvases adorn the walls in our kitchen and give me great joy every day. I will never tire of them…
… is the one you have with you. So true! Came downstairs just before 7am today, and saw the makings of a great sky. Knowing it would likely only last a few minutes at most, I pulled some shoes and a coat on, and grabbed my phone and wide angle converter lens, and took the 2 minute walk across the fields. This is what I saw… If I had stopped to get my ‘real’ camera and tripod etc, I would certainly have missed it – it only lasted a few seconds longer as the sun rose and washed out the colours.
Not sure you would have a boat around here – it’s over 100 miles to the nearest sea, not that this one looks very seaworthy anyway… Ah well, it’s interesting what ‘stuff’ people collect.
Walking into town today, I was taken with this old cottage. It’s pretty small, and dates back to the early 1800s, and I guess it probably was indeed the local wheelwright’s cottage ‘in the day’. Many of the older properties in town have long since gone, but enough remain to give a sense of history. 
The upside of getting the car serviced is that they also do a reasonable valet job on it – it’s cleaner just now than for quite a while. Country roads, farm traffic and lots of wet weather at this time of the year means it won’t stay clean for long though!
