We are never going to see autumn colours here to rival those in New England, but they are pretty impressive nevertheless. This tree is just a mile or so from home and the best of the colours are coming through now …

It’s the end of the day, and almost the end of our holiday in Santorini – we go home on Thursday. We’ve had several good sunsets, but this one, shot from our hotel room balcony, is pretty epic.

Weather today was shocking – torrential rain for hours, but it cleared as we were driving home after spending lunchtime and the afternoon with friends, and we were treated to an excellent sunset. This was just a mile or so from home…

After another day of changeable weather, it looked like we might get a reasonable end to the day, then the clouds rolled in… The rain held off for a while, but then the inevitable downpour came.

First time out for a while with my ‘real’ camera (as opposed to my smartphone) so decided to try Ramshaw Rocks, a place I know well, and just an hour or so from home. The sunset didn’t disappoint…

… while the sun shines. So goes the proverb, and it’s particularly apt this year as the weather has been so uncertain. Farmers round here have had their work cut out to gauge when to harvest crops between the outbreaks of rain.

So, after our family left this afternoon, we had a few hours to relax before a last meal and packing for our return trip tomorrow. Back to reality it is then, with lawns to mow, washing to get done and a trip to the supermarket. Next holiday is Santorini in October – can’t wait!
After two pretty horrendous days traveling, we finally made it to Ibiza. A cancelled flight yesterday and a long drive to an alternate airport, then a delayed flight today, with the threat of being bumped at the last minute as the plane was overloaded. Fortunately we made it, and our reward was meeting up with family, and a fabulous sunset dinner…
Another fabulous sunset, shot from the top of the garden. The local farmer, whose land is adjoining, has fortunately now cut down the tall grass that was blocking this view. How lucky are we?
