With leaves back on the trees, this view up the lane near our house doesn’t get any better…
It may be the end of the soccer season, but it’s also pretty much the end of the bluebell season around here. Yes, there are still quite a few around (overall it’s been one of the best bluebell seasons for years…) but the colour is fading fast. Probably my last day out photographing them this year…
This beautiful spot is little known around here. It’s a small wooded hillside, and every spring has the most amazing display of bluebells and wild garlic. Today was a little bright for the best photos – an overcast sky works best for bringing out the subtle colour of bluebells.
We truly are very lucky to live where we do – this walk through the woods and across the fields starts right outside our door. On a beautiful spring day, there’s no excuse for not getting out and enjoying it…
Although much of the land around here is given over to agriculture (mainly dairy cattle), we are fortunate to have a reasonable amount of ‘open access’ land close by. It’s mostly mixed woodland and an excellent place for quiet reflection. This is Maer Hills, just a 10 min drive from home.
