When we moved to the area, this was a Methodist Chapel, but was abandoned soon afterwards due to lack of use. For a while it was a furniture workshop, but looks pretty run down now with an old caravan dumped outside. I wonder what the future holds for this old building?

Day 6 – Beware! Frogs crossing…
I’ve probably travelled this road twice a day during the 10+ years we’ve lived here, but can honestly say I’ve never seen a frog crossing the road. Maybe one day…
Day 5 – A Good Walk…
… deserves a decent breakfast. Good to have several breakfast opportunities all within a couple of miles walk. n.b. This was just the small breakfast – got to save room for lunch later!
Day 4 – Decay…
The Cherry Tree Hotel near Whitchurch must have seen some lively times over the years, both in it’s previous incarnation as the Witch Ball Inn, and latterly as a night club. It’s been abandoned for many years now and completely derelict. Project anyone?

Day 3 – Messing about in boats…
The Shropshire Union Canal runs close by our house, and it’s a great place for a walk. These two boats are frequently to be seen, selling coal, wood and diesel fuel to other boat owners along the canal, although at this time of year there are very few boats to be seen. Life goes on though…

Day 2 – A Chilly Start…
On family transport duties today, I knew I wouldn’t get much chance for photography, so grabbed the opportunity of an early shot soon after sunrise. The sharpest frost yet of the winter, and a low angle, this was taken just a few yards from home using my iPhone fitted with the Moment wide angle converter. Processed in Lightroom Mobile with border etc added using Snapseed.

Day 1 – Time for a quick drink…
Damp and miserable weather meant our New Year’s Day walk didn’t get going until lunchtime, but we made up for it with a diversion to the pub. There’s nothing like a pint of Slumbering Monk at The Red Lion. What’s not to like?

Here we go – 2019 beckons…
Well, it’s almost 2019, and I figure a photo project is in order for the New Year. My plan (and as they say, ‘the best laid plans….’ and all that) is to start a 365 project – ie post a new photograph every single day.
Hopefully I will actually photograph something interesting each day, and at least to start, I’m planning on concentrating on monochrome photos. Let’s see how it goes – if you have any comments or suggestions, please do chip in.
Let’s kick off with a New Year’s Eve photo – this spot is on our daily walk, and we call it ‘The 39 Steps’ – it is indeed 39 steps up to the canal bank from the road that runs under the aqueduct, and it’s a pretty steep climb!
Happy New Year!
