Day 282 – Early Closing…

This mini-market in Oia, Santorini has seen better days. Given the up market touristy nature of the area (its where thousands flock every night to see the sunset), it’s surprising to see derelict buildings. Unless of course it’s been deliberately run down so it can be redeveloped into swish accommodation. Always a possibility…

Day 280 – Looking Over Us…

These two figures guard the entrance to the Greek Orthodox Church in Fira, Santorini. They sit very high in the air and appear to look down on people passing by. Positioning them in front of the huge church roof in the photo exaggerates their scale.

Day 279 – Blue Is The Colour…

I’ve seen lots of photos of Greece with the blue or white colour of church roofs, but I was still surprised at just how vibrant the colours are when set against a clear blue sky. This is another church in Fira, the main city in Santorini.

Day 277 – Blue On Blue…

One thing that Greece (and the Greek islands) is famous for are the little churches with their blue roofs. It’s hard to travel more than a few yards in any small town without coming across one. Set against the almost permanent blue sky, they make an attractive picture.

Day 275 – Fire In The Sky…

Caught sight of this amazing sunrise as I was opening the kitchen blinds at around 7am this morning. Grabbed phone and went outside – just a few moments to shoot some photos before the sun broke through and all the sky colour faded away.

Day 274 – Needs TLC…

I’m always amazed at how some properties are just left abandoned and deteriorating for years on end, especially if they are in a fairly desirable location. This old house is in the centre of Whitchurch, close to the church and shops. Fancy a renovation project anyone?
