We are never going to see autumn colours here to rival those in New England, but they are pretty impressive nevertheless. This tree is just a mile or so from home and the best of the colours are coming through now …

I’ve wanted to get a classic 35mm ‘pocket’ camera for a while, but I’ve been outbid on every occasion up to now. This little beauty was advertised at £30 on the website of a reputable photo retailer so I dived in, and it arrived this morning… First indications are very promising.

OK, it’s another 10 days until Halloween, but with two grandchildren to amuse, we decided to decorate the house ready for the 31st… I guess we will carve pumpkins a little nearer the time (stay tuned!) but for now we are using the plastic variety…

Although I read the odd book on holiday, and little otherwise, my wife positively devours books – sometimes 2 or 3 in a week. We both have Kindle e-readers, which are fantastically useful on holiday, but overall she prefers ‘real’ books. Ever since I bought my laptop I’ve been planning on getting an external monitor for it, and doing away with my desktop iMac. There’s nothing wrong with the iMac, it’s just easier to manage photos on one computer only. Finally did it today!

Today marks the end of Baby Loss Awareness Week, and culminates with the symbolic lighting of candles at 7pm to remember all babies that have died too soon. It’s called ‘Wave of Light’…

I bought this guitar around 10 years ago, planning to learn to play it after I retired. Well, sad to say, I haven’t even started yet! It’s a shame because I love music, and it’s a lovely instrument, but I just don’t seem to have the music gene in me…

It was my wife’s birthday yesterday, and as usual she received a fair few cards from friends and family. There does seem to be a bit of a theme to the cards – around half of them refer to either gin, wine or prosecco. They certainly know her!!!
