Day 293 – The Real Thing…

Although I read the odd book on holiday, and little otherwise, my wife positively devours books – sometimes 2 or 3 in a week. We both have Kindle e-readers, which are fantastically useful on holiday, but overall she prefers ‘real’ books. This is our bookcase at home – most of the books here are waiting to be read as we usually give them away when finished…

Day 292 – Casting Some Light…

At our local doctor’s today for my annual flu injection, I was taken by this glass window feature. High up in the side wall of the surgery it allows a soft light to fall on patients below. A monochrome treatment renders it as an abstract pattern.

Day 291 – Still Going…

It was my wife’s birthday a week ago and I bought her flowers (of course). Normally, cut flowers only last a few days in our house as it’s pretty warm, but as you can see these are still going strong. It may cost more buying them from a florist rather than a supermarket, but they definitely last longer…

Day 290 – Look Up…!

Surprising what details you see when you look around – this is the side of our local Argos store. I’ve never really noticed the detailing as it’s high up on the wall. Not sure of the significance of the pattern – probably just a random scattering of the discs.

Day 289 – All Set Up…

Ever since I bought my laptop I’ve been planning on getting an external monitor for it, and doing away with my desktop iMac. There’s nothing wrong with the iMac, it’s just easier to manage photos on one computer only. Finally did it today!

Day 286 – Let’s Celebrate…

It was my wife’s birthday yesterday, and as usual she received a fair few cards from friends and family. There does seem to be a bit of a theme to the cards – around half of them refer to either gin, wine or prosecco. They certainly know her!!!

Day 285 – Should I Eat Them…?

More mushrooms… It’s that time of the year – a combination of damp but still moderately mild weather that causes an explosion of fungi all around. We get them in the lawn and flower beds, and further afield, in the hedgerows and fields. I’m sure some are edible, but I don’t have a clue!

Day 284 – A Last Rose…

The cold wet weather that we came back to yesterday is certainly impacting on the garden – there are fallen leaves everywhere and most of the perennial plants have finished flowering and are looking very sad. The roses usually last until the first hard frosts, and this beautiful blossom stood out from the yellowing plants around it. Probably the last we can expect this year though…
