Day 245 – By Joule’s It’s Good…

A small celebration called for today, so off for a quick drink and something to eat at our favourite pub in town. This is my beer of choice, the dark and rich ‘Slumbering Monk’. Goes down very well with Steak & Ale Pie!

Day 244 – Thin Blue Line…

This building has been the Police Station in Whitchurch for over 150 years, but is now for sale as a result of ‘reorganization’ – a euphemism for cuts in a service that has seen a reduction of over 22,000 officers over the last 10 years… Latest government promises are to reverse these cuts, but I’ll believe it when I see it.

Day 237 – End Of Season…

It’s late August, so coming to the end of the lavender season in England. We have a lavender ‘farm’ near us, and not only is it their last day of the season tomorrow, but the business is closing because the owners are retiring. The lavender fields may not match Provence, but there was still a decent photo to be had.

Day 226 – A Stately Pile…

Stokesay Castle near Ludlow is one of the finest surviving medieval fortified homes in England. It was built around 1285 by a wealthy local wool merchant, and remained in the same family for almost 400 years. It is currently owned by English Heritage and is open to the public.

Day 218 – Red Letter Day…

Just sometimes, it all comes together! I was wandering around Shrewsbury this afternoon and saw this guy in a red jacket walking towards me, with a red post box and phone box close by. With the camera set to f8 and auto everything, I literally just managed one shot, and it worked…
