After two pretty horrendous days traveling, we finally made it to Ibiza. A cancelled flight yesterday and a long drive to an alternate airport, then a delayed flight today, with the threat of being bumped at the last minute as the plane was overloaded. Fortunately we made it, and our reward was meeting up with family, and a fabulous sunset dinner…

Day 209 – Not The View…
… we expected from our hotel tonight. We were supposed to fly to Ibiza this afternoon, but halfway to the airport we got a message from British Airways to say the flight had been cancelled. An hour and a half on the phone, and then we were on our way to London for a flight tomorrow – the best option we could book. So here we are at the London City Airport Hotel… What joy…
Day 208 – Welcome All…
A traditional lych gate entrance at a little church near Whitmore that we pass regularly.
Day 207 – A Tale Of Two Cameras…
I’ve had the Sony A6300 for a while, but it never quite worked as an ‘everyday’ camera for me. Lots of great features, but it was just a bit on the big side for what I wanted. I’ve tried a smaller lens on it, but that compromises quality too much. So it’s going on it’s way shortly, and being replaced by the Fujifilm X100F – much smaller and neater, and great quality too!
Day 206 – All Quiet…
This is our closest railway station, at Whitchurch, Shropshire. To say it is quiet is an understatement- it gets maybe half a dozen trains a day stopping here, and in ten years of living around here, we’ve never used it…
Day 205 – Does It Get Any Better…?
Another fabulous sunset, shot from the top of the garden. The local farmer, whose land is adjoining, has fortunately now cut down the tall grass that was blocking this view. How lucky are we?
Day 204 – Not A Birthday Cake…
It was our daughter’s birthday today and she asked if she could have ‘fruit’ instead of a cake… Well, no ordinary fruit would do so we made this watermelon ‘boat’- it was carved out and shaped, just as you would a pumpkin, and then filled with a selection of fresh fruit. Needless to say, she loved it!
Day 203 – A Gardener’s Paradise…
This is part of the Italienate Gardens at Trentham, near Stone. It has been a country estate since the 11th century, and although the fine country house that once stood here has been largely demolished over the years, the gardens, originally designed by Capability Brown, have been lovingly restored as a country park. Well worth a visit…
Day 202 – Long Drive Home…
Sunday evening motorway traffic. Some going home I guess after a weekend trip away, and more still heading back to the cities ready for work early tomorrow.
Day 201 – Killer Cat…
This is Barney. Next door’s cat. He has attitude. He’s also very efficient at keeping our garden free of rabbits, mice and other miscellaneous wildlife. There’s barely a day passes when we don’t see him trotting across our garden with his catch…
