Day 80 – A Tall Story…

I drive past this patch of woodland quite often, but rarely stop and explore. Today I had a few minutes to kill, so wandered through. Spring hasn’t really had any impact as yet, very few leaves on the trees, and the woodland floor is mostly dead leaves and ferns. Another couple of months and it’ll all change.

Day 78 – Clouds Rolling In…

6.20am today. Came down for my morning cuppa and saw a patch of colour in an otherwise grey sky. Pulled some shoes on, grabbed my phone and popped outside – this spot is just a few yards from home. It lasted just long enough for a photo before it clouded over completely and all the colour was gone.

Day 67 – Red or White Rose?

Blore Heath, just a couple of miles from where we live, was the site of a bloody battle on the 23rd Sept 1459 between the Lancastrian and Yorkist armies. A relatively small skirmish in the War of the Roses, some 3,000 of the 15,000 in the two armies were killed over the 2 days the battle lasted.

Day 63 – Threatening Skies…

Today’s plan was to get some jobs done in the garden, but the weather had other ideas… Several times I went outside, got set up with tools etc, only to have to beat a hasty retreat when the heavens opened. The changeable weather did however yield an interesting sky. This was the view from the top of our garden.

Day 53 – The Best Camera…

… is the one you have with you. So true! Came downstairs just before 7am today, and saw the makings of a great sky. Knowing it would likely only last a few minutes at most, I pulled some shoes and a coat on, and grabbed my phone and wide angle converter lens, and took the 2 minute walk across the fields. This is what I saw… If I had stopped to get my ‘real’ camera and tripod etc, I would certainly have missed it – it only lasted a few seconds longer as the sun rose and washed out the colours.

Day 34 – Another Sunny Day…

… but we spent most of it shopping… Not that we actually go out shopping very much these days – pretty much everything is available on line, but we wanted to look for a particular piece of furniture, so there was nothing for it but to head out to the shopping mall.

Day 10 – What a Difference…

… a day makes. After the glorious sunset yesterday, today’s weather couldn’t have been any different. It started off dull and overcast, then a heavy mist with drizzle seemed to overtake the whole landscape, blotting everything out and making driving difficult. Let’s hope for better tomorrow.

Day 9 – At The End Of The Day…

This afternoon saw me at The Roaches, the southern-most point of the Peak District National Park, and closest spot to us. Although cloud was forecast, there was just enough clear sky to make a decent sunset photo. I have a couple of good iPhone shots, but my Sony camera really excels in these conditions.
