Day 125 – Looming Clouds…

This is the view from the top of Wenlock Edge, looking out towards Shrewsbury. With a few friends from the local tennis club, we enjoyed a 7 mile ‘sociable’ walk this morning – a gentle pace, with plenty of time for chatting. And then a visit to the local pub for refreshments! A great way to spend Sunday.

Day 122 – Swing Low, Sweet Chariot…

Although ostensibly we installed these swings in the garden for our two granddaughters, I suspect they also fulfilled a long term ambition of my wife to have something she never had as a child… Anyway, they all get pleasure from them, so that’s the main thing I reckon.

Day 120 – A Sinking Feeling…

Our local farmer has a store area where he keeps ‘bits and pieces’ (aka junk) that might ‘come in handy’ one day… These were some large Belfast style sinks formerly used as drinking troughs, but now replaced. I wonder how long they will stay there…

Day 118 – ‘Tis The Season…

Bluebells are typically around for about three weeks here, but the rather changeable weather has already battered them somewhat – I don’t expect them to be at their peak for more than another week at best. All of which encouraged me to get out and photograph bluebells at a different location today, while I still could.

Day 116 – Crop Rotation…

The extremely hot summer last year not only caused low grass yields for farmers, but has left meadows in poor condition this year. Several of our local dairy farmers have had to plough up meadows this year and plant with maize to give the ground chance to recover.

Day 115 – Give Way…

Living in the country has its challenges, especially if you are in a hurry. On the way home today we found our way blocked by some of our local farmer’s 700 odd Friesian cows crossing the road on the way to milking. No problem today as we weren’t on a tight schedule, but there have been times when the 10-15 mins holdup while they cross has been a real pain…
