Day 240 – Ready To Roll…

Advancing years and the hilly terrain around here have made cycling somewhat of a challenge, so last year we swapped our regular bikes for electric. It’s made a huge difference. Slight problem is that the bike carrier we had for the car wasn’t up to carrying the new e-bikes (they weigh around 22kg each). This is the replacement carrier all set up and ready to go.

Day 239 – Back Here Again…

This is the bar of The Mermaid pub, in Wolverhampton. I’ve been visiting this pub for over 50 years now, and met my wife here one fateful evening 46 years ago. She was working behind the bar – we ‘clicked’ and were married in less than a year. Our visit today wasn’t particularly successful – the atmosphere and service was ‘ok’, but the food was truly dreadful. It’ll be a while before we come here again!

Day 237 – End Of Season…

It’s late August, so coming to the end of the lavender season in England. We have a lavender ‘farm’ near us, and not only is it their last day of the season tomorrow, but the business is closing because the owners are retiring. The lavender fields may not match Provence, but there was still a decent photo to be had.

Day 233 – Rise And Shine…

I was awake even earlier than usual this morning and around 6am saw that the light was promising. Grabbed shoes and my camera and walked the few yards to the farm gate nearby. Just time to snatch a few shots before the sun came up fully and the beautiful colours disappeared.

Day 231 – Work In Progress…

I spent the afternoon building some new steps in the garden to replace some that had rotted away. Serious construction work with the structure made from 8”x 2” timber. Thank goodness for some decent power tools! Just an hour or so I reckon tomorrow to finish it off …
