After a really warm day today it turned really cold as night fell, so a good excuse for a fire outside.

As part of a larger tidy-up project we are doing at home, I tidied and sorted our drinks cupboard out. Having reduced the number of different gin bottles I had from a rather excessive 35 down to just over 20 I was able to get them, and my modest whisky collection, all in one cupboard. And I came across a few I had forgotten about!

I was awake even earlier than usual this morning and around 6am saw that the light was promising. Grabbed shoes and my camera and walked the few yards to the farm gate nearby. Just time to snatch a few shots before the sun came up fully and the beautiful colours disappeared.

I spent the afternoon building some new steps in the garden to replace some that had rotted away. Serious construction work with the structure made from 8”x 2” timber. Thank goodness for some decent power tools! Just an hour or so I reckon tomorrow to finish it off …

We spent the day cleaning paving slabs and reorganizing our ‘coffee corner’ in the garden. It’s less cluttered and much more of a relaxing space now. Christened it with a cheeky gin and tonic tonight…

Another appalling day’s weather today – pretty much wall to wall heavy rain all day. At least the forecast for tomorrow is more promising…

The rather unsettled weather just lately has seen storms, heavy rain, strong winds and sunshine all in the same day, and today has been no exception. Late this afternoon a sharp shower followed by bright sunshine created this beautiful rainbow over the fields around us.

We had these two monkeys staying with us overnight, and for supper they were making their own pizzas. Total carnage in the kitchen!

In between the showers and high winds over the last few days, I’ve been cleaning our terrace area of the black algae that has made it a bit of an eyesore. Finished off by installing a rather nice pot stand which hides the pipes etc of the outdoor watering system. Looks much better now!
